ABOUT THE PWAY ENGINEER

Hi, I'm Alistair. I'm the person behind The PWay Engineer.

I joined the railway in 2017 as a project management assistant at a maintenance depot. Working on projects there made it clear that track was where I wanted to be.

From there I moved through a number of roles, including Assistant Track Maintenance Engineer and Track Section Manager, learning track engineering and maintenance management on the job.

In 2021 I moved into project engineering, working on assurance of renewal designs across S&C and plain line renewals. That's where I got properly exposed to the technical side of track design and renewal delivery.

Today, I work as a consultant, delivering systems engineering, safety assurance and asset management to rail operators and maintainers around the world.

Born from a struggle to find good railway engineering educational content when I needed it, here we are.

The PWay Engineer is a place for you to learn about the railway. Whether you're just starting out on the track, curious to know more, a weekend enthusiast, or working towards the next step in your career, you'll find useful information here.

The channel now works with organisations including Pandrol, Staytite, Interflon, Sekisui and Alphatek.
